Vision and Mission

Overview of the AFIE

The Asia Forum for Investor Education (AFIE) is an international organization whose main objective is to promote investor education and protection in Asia so as to ensure the development of a sound investment culture across the region and ultimately contribute to the advancement of the Asian capital markets.

As founding members, 31 securities-related organizations representing 20 jurisdictions joined the Inaugural Meeting of the AFIE held in Seoul, Korea, on February 3, 2010. They include securities and exchange commissions, financial trade associations, and regulatory authorities.

Visions
The AFIE aims to establish and promote the highest possible standards for delivering effective and efficient investor education. It is also committed to ensure a healthy and sound investment culture takes root across the Asian region by helping investors gain a better understanding of their investments. In addition, the AFIE seeks to evolve into a prominent regional body representing Asia's capital markets on the international stage.
Missions

First, the AFIE provides a forum for information exchange on investor education in the Asia-Pacific region to enhance investor education and develop capital markets in the region. It holds the Annual General Meetings and international seminars to discuss various issues on investor education and exchange information and perspectives among participants.

Second, the AFIE promotes international cooperation in improving investor education and fostering capital markets in the region into mature and stable ones by engaging in a variety of regional and international initiatives and projects.

Third, the AFIE develops investor education models and materials as well as effective implementation programs of investor education tailored to the Asian economies. It also works to make sure such materials and best practices on investor education are shared with its members and properly applied to different education settings. In addition, it creates on-line investor education programs and multi-media education content to increase the public's access to investor education.

Fourth, the AFIE conducts survey and research on the current state of investor education in its member jurisdictions. Based on the results, it formulates improvement strategy and provides outreach and support for those in difficulties.
